The accession consists of a one reel black and white film depicting research vessel R/V Alpha Helix on Bering Sea Expedition in 1972. The film includes footage documenting Phase A of the expedition. This phase was conducted by Drs. Robert Elsner and Richard Gordon Miller from October 1970 to July 1972. The research vessel Alpha Helix was operated as a floating biological laboratory by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography from 1966-1980.
